We complain in India of the mainstream news media. But nobody has even raised an issue about how 2 of the most popular cricket sites/apps are connected to bigger parties.
E.g: ESPN Cricinfo has Star Sports as its joint partner, where Cricinfo follow the line of the official broadcaster.
Cricbuzz has never been able to comment on fantasy sports, despite talking on varied issues which affect the sport, bcoz they get their sponsorships from these companies and when Dream11 invests in them, Cricbuzz could turn into an unofficial 'gambling' site. 'Gambling' in quotes bcoz Indian Acts don't define it well, though I believe Dream11 and others are gambling.
Maybe sites like Cricket.com and others might have to step up, though being in careful thread as well, bcoz they had done paid programming for the ILT20.
He did. And the content (as far as I know) is largely devoid of any influence from the parent company. But, from what I understand, the funding for the site came from a gambling firm.

I got some bad news for you - Cricket.com was literally founded as the marketing arm of a Canadian gambling company 😅
But yes, I agree with you. There's a major problem with the "independent" cricket media in India.
I thought Kartik Kannan started it as a data based approach. So, none are free from conflicts and varied interests.
