It genuinely seems like such a fluke, but I read somewhere that the only Aussie player with a Test average about 30 this year is Carey - maybe last year's ODI WC win papered over some of the cracks with this team? They haven't actually done much in a while.
I think you are correct. There are more question marks than in-form batsmen:)
I’ve read an interesting thought that NZ prepared for their win in India in a tough series loss to Sri Lanka. India prepared for this tour in a tough series loss to NZ. By contrast, Australia’s preparation was basically a hodgepodge of short-form cricket:)
